Evaluation: Question 3
What have you learned from audience feedback?
Questionnaires
I created questionnaires to help me collect information about my target audiences and to help develop my three products so I could gather information to improve my products, these questionnaires included, whats your favourite type of genre, this is where I got the trailer idea from as most people said RomCom.
Audience Interviews
With the audience feedback it helped me get guidance on my products and make them become more professional, it provided me with positive points and also elements that I could improve, it gave me a bigger understanding of what I needed to include in my products, I learnt how my characters needed t be betrayed.
Polls
I created polls to get students or citizens to answer questions on the internet about different things to do with my trailer, magazine and poster and how they can be connected throughout the task, this helped as it gave me advice on what I needed to include.
Here are some audience interview questions about my trailer, they have stated what I need to improve on to make my trailer better.

Due to all the audience feedback I have gathered throughout the tasks it has helped me to better my grade and give me insight into different ideas which I didn't think of myself and what would appeal to my target audience more closely, this will benefit my grade and get the best out of my three products that I have created.

These are some target audience interviews at the final stages of completing my poster and magazine, I got feedback on what improvements could be made.
What I have interpreted from my audience feedback:
The videos above have stated what is needed to be improved for my poster, magazine and trailer and I have took these comments on board. There wasn't much needed to do on the completion of the trailer as I have been reediting this for a while, but with regards to my poster and magazine my target audience have suggested some improvements and I have made the changes.
Magazine:
This was the biggest task of improvement due to rushing my magazine, my audience said it looked unprofessional which I agreed with, I took this on board and decided to do a recreation of the magazine and also she stated that the barcode was to large and I should make the main film of the magazine 'yours, always' more noticeable, the re edit of the poster corrected all the improvements needed to be made.
This is a gif.com of my target audience which I have aimed my trailer at, the age of my target audience is 12+.

Evaluation: Question 1
Trailer
In this evaluation I have created these videos on Imovie and uploaded them onto youtube for the comparison of the three trailers compared to mine Yours, Always.
- This is the Lucky One trailer which I have analysed in comparison to my trailer Yours, Always.
- In this clip I have analysed what I have used throughout The Lucky One trailer compared to our own trailer, it shows that both of the trailers have used both a boy and a girl for the main characters to convey that this is a romance trailer through the connection of the two main characters.
- I have developed my trailer compared to The Lucky One, as in their trailer they have used a photo to describe the meeting of the two characters, whereas in my trailer the necklace is the main prop which brings them closer.
- I have challenged The Lucky One trailer by creating my own storyline instead of using the same one as this trailer to make it original. In The Lucky One the aggressive ex husband/dad of the child disapproves of Logan the main boy actor of acting like the father to his child whereas in my trailer the father of the daughter disapproves of their relationship. I have only challenged the storyline as in my trailer both actors bump into each other and in The Lucky One Logan deliberately goes out to find the girl he was looking for due to the photo he found.
- This is another trailer that I have researched the trailer I have made around, Love and Other Drugs as this fits in with the genre of romance.
- In the Love and Other Drugs trailer we have used some of the elements that are shown throughout. This includes the contemporary setting that is used, some of the clips are shown in a house which I have included in the video above, we have used this idea by including house scenes in our trailer, like when the girl is crying and looking through the window. Also there is a car scene in both trailers to create an impact which will make the audience feel emotion so I thought it would be a dramatic scene to include in our trailer.
- We have developed some of the conventions in the Love and Other Drugs trailer, both of the male actors in each trailer goes after the girl because they cant live without her, this is a typical romance scene in a trailer so we thought it would be a good idea to stick to it.
- I have also challenged the fact that the story-lines are completely different, as the Love and Other Drugs trailer includes unconventional scenes like sexual contact and drug talk whereas we have give our trailer more of a classical romance feel.
- This is the final trailer that we got our ideas for our trailer Yours, Always from, The Notebook which is a classical romance film.
- In the video above I have compared The Notebook and our trailer yours always. We have used some of the elements in this trailer, the main comparison is the montage of clips that is included in both of the trailers to show their love growing and how they met one another, we thought this would be the most effective way to show this after watching The Notebook trailer.
- I have developed this trailer to make it our own by the disapproving parents that you see in each trailer, in our trailer it is the father that disapproves whereas in The Notebook it is the mother, we did this because stereotypically it would be the girls father who disapproves and not the mother as they are seen as the 'protective figure'.
- We have challenged the setting of The Notebook trailer as theres is a rural american village setting which we can't use due to the fact we have no access to create a trailer in this type of setting, so to our advantage around the time we was filming the "Christmas German Markets' was on in Manchester so we used this opportunity to challenge The Notebook trailer to create something similar.
Poster
- I used the name tags which are at the top of the poster so the names are above each of the actors head so the audience can clearly see the names of the actors that they will be seeing, I have also used around the same font type so this is not the main focus of the poster.
- I have also used the same background setting for where the image has been taken, this is outside as it was a very easy setting for me to get and the actors to get to.
- The credits for the film are at the bottom of the poster and I thought this is where they look best, so I used this idea and put the credits at the bottom of my poster also.
- From the film poster that I looked at to base mine on I developed some of the conventions of this poster, the first one being that I changed the positioning on the characters, they are still looking into each others eyes to show that this is a romance film but they are sat down whereas on 'The Vow' they are stood up.
- I also developed the main text which is in the middle of the page by changing the font and putting the colour of the text the opposite way round to see which way stood out for me more clearly so the audience can see the text.
- I also developed the idea that the background of my poster isn't blurry like the poster on the left as I thought this would look better on the poster I created.
- Regards to this poster I challenged the fact that my poster doesn't have a tag line underneath the main title, I did this because I didn't think my poster needed one as it wouldn't look as professional as it does now.
- I also challenged the clothing that is worn by the actors on the left hand side poster, on their image the weather looked nice and bright but as you can see on the darkness of my image the weather wasn't as nice so they had to wear jackets and coats rather than vests. This was a more suitable look for my actors.
- I also challenged the colouring of the text which is a the top of the page to suit my magazine as they needed to both link together, this also matched the text which was at the bottom of the page.
Magazine
- In comparison to the magazine I based mine on, I have used the bold title which I saw to make the magazine stand out and look bold, so it will attract audiences as this was the case for most film magazines.
- I have also used the barcode which is placed on the right hand side of the magazine, I have made the size small so the barcode isn't noticeable.
- I have used the bottom right cover-line layout as I thought this looked effective.
- I have developed the top heading so it links in with the genre of my trailer and poster, the font isn't as big as my comparison magazine and I have made the text different colours.
- I have also developed the image as my genre is romance I have used the two main characters as the main image whereas in the other magazine there is 3 actors.
- I have challenged the main cover-line of the comparison magazine as they have put an effect on the text to make it glow whereas I have made my cover-line stand out by putting a low opacity text box around the text.
Research and planning: How my trailer has the conventions of a teaser trailer
My trailer is a teaser trailer because...
- It is 1.20 seconds long which isnt long enough to be a theatrical trailer.
- It doesnt show the full plot of the film, it just shows little clips of scenes.
- It teases the audience as it doesn't give much away.
- We took key scenes out of the trailer to emphasise either love or conflict.
- We have reorganised the scenes so that they are not in any particular order to not give any of the main storyline away to appeal to the audience and leave the trailer on a cliffhanger.

Research and planning: plan for evaluation question 1
This is the plan that me and my partner made for help us with the first evaluation question, this split up the key points on how we was going to present the different trailers into Imovie to show the conventions of our trailer and already made trailers.

Research and planning: final changes to magazine
After looking at my magazine more closely and having a meeting with my tutor, we decided that my poster needed to be improved, this involved using guidelines for text and making my magazine look more professional, this is my final magazine cover.

Research and planning: Yours, Always trailer
I had made some arrangments with the editing of the trailer, in the middle of the trailer there was text which allowed the storyline to develop, previously they were black and white but after getting feedback off my tutor we have edited them so they are light pink and purple to go with the genre of our trailer more closely.
Research and planning: Trailer better quality
Research and planning: Trailer with sound
This is the trailer I have created with sound to make the trailer complete.

Research and planning: further editing of trailer
From the research I have been looking at through the romance trailers on the internet I had found that quite a few of the trailers have used the slow motion edit to emphasis certain parts of the trailer to show the connection between the characters to show there love growing or getting destroyed, as this is my micro element I looked at using this in our trailer when they are kissing to show that it shouldn't be allowed and it is not approved which brings the audience into our trailer to see what happens next.
When using Imovie I came across the different aspects of the software which I could use to edit the trailer, one of the conventions I could use is the split clip which breaks the clip up into two where you can then edit certain parts of the clip and not the other, which will result in making the clip more precise.

Research and planning: editing trailer
My micro element is editing, I have been on iMovie for some time now editing my trailer and this is a skill that I have learnt on this software is to detach the audio from the clip as sound is going over the top of it, this has been very useful as it has made the trailer look a lot more professional and gotten rid of the background noise which I didn't want.

Research and planning: voice over script
We have created a voice over script to tell the story throughout the trailer to make it clear to audiences how the story develops and what their relationship results in.
Research and planning: examples of teaser trailers

Research and planning: teaser trailer research
I have been researching about a teaser trailer so I have more or an idea of what is involved and how to make the best teaser trailer possible, with the timings it should be under 1 minute which is what my teaser trailer is going to be and it is short clips which tease the audience about the movie which is what I have achieved.

Research and planning: group meeting
- Me and my partner had a group meeting with our tutors to discuss our trailer and the footage we had gathered together.
- We discovered that from the clips we wanted to take out of the trailer whilst editing this the trailer was going to be shorter than we first thought.
- So now we are going to make a teaser trailer as we have estimated the timing to be around just over 1 minute.

Research and planning: audience feedback
I asked for audience feedback off my tutor and two media technicians who have a lot of experience in giving advice in this area, I will take on board these comments to improve my trailer.

Research and planning: trailer without sound
This is the trailer we have created so far without the sound to go with it.
Wednesday, 5 March 2014
Research and planning: editing sound for the trailer
I am editing the sound for the romance trailer I am creating and this is the end of the track that we are using, as you can see by the track volume we wanted the sound to go on for longer but without changing the record so we have extended the time by using the track volume button as a compromise.

Research and planning: Finished poster
This is my finished poster that I have created, I have changed the text so it stands out and so everything is clear.

Research and magazine: Changed mind on magazine
I have changed my mind on the colours I wanted it to be, I think it looks more professional with the darker red rather than the pink colour for the masthead and coverlines. I also wanted it to be the same theme as the poster so I have used the colour theme of this to link them both together.

Research and planning: update on magazine
This is how my magazine looks so far, I have added some more text of the films that are also inlcuded on the magazine and made the text bigger so my magazine looks more full, I still can't decide whether I like the background or not.

Research and planning: film magazine changes
I have made some changes to my magazine and added some of the basic elements e.g.
Barcode
Title
Title of main film
Cover lines
I just need to make the magazine look more complete and add maybe actors names and dates so it stands out.

Research and planning: film magazine start
This is the start of the film magazine, I'm trying to make the title of the magazine stand out but at this point it isn't looking like a magazine, I will now start to add the main elements that are included on a magazine so it starts to look real.
Thursday, 13 February 2014
Research and planning: Image for magazine
This will be the image I will be using for my magazine, I'm not sure whether I will be keeping this background and blurring it or using the laso tool to crop them out and put onto a plain background.

Research and planning: Preview of film magazines
These are 3 examples of film magazines that I have been looking at to base my own film magazine around, as my main image will be like the bottom magazine with a two shot, this is the magazine which I will try to compare with mine. This looks like a professional magazine as it has
- A masthead
- Cover-lines
- A main image
- A barcode
and other films which are included on the poster aswell as the main film which is the main focus.

Research and planning: meeting post
- We had a meeting with Angela about our film trailer.
- We have filmed some clips that cannot be used in the trailer as it will give the film away to much as we filmed someone dying at the end of it in a car accident.
- We have had a discussion and decided to film clips of them arguing and upset instead of giving the film away.
- We are going to watch some more trailers e.g. the notebook, p.s. I love you to see how their trailers look and what we can interpret into ours.

Research and planning: changes to poster
I added some pictures at the bottom of the poster of some production company logos to make the poster complete.
Tuesday, 21 January 2014
Research and planning: uneditied footage
This is the uneditied footage that me and my partner have filmed, some of this we will be able to use but some of this is irrelevant for a trailer when we have spoken to our tutor about this, we still have the last few clips to film to make the trailer complete as we have realised we have done parts of this wrong.
Monday, 20 January 2014
Research and planning: starting on poster
Ive started designing on my poster, I'm not sure on the text at the top as it looks quite hidden behind the background, I'm just finishing off the text at the bottom of the poster and then adding the finishing touches onto the poster.
Research and planning: Image for poster
This is the picture I will be using for my poster, I think this is the perfect picture as they are looking at each other so you can clearly tell its a romance and the mid shot I have taken is very clear and central which will go well whilst editing.

Research and planning: Preview of film posters
Here is some romance film posters that I have been researching to base my own film poster around, I think that these are a good example for a film poster as the image is clear and shows the connection between both actors, it includes all the basic elements of a film poster
- Title of film
- Characters names
- Tag line
- Main image
- Credits
