Research and planning: Trailer analysis 2

This is the second teaster trailer that I will be analysing for my romance genre, this is a film called The Lucky One (2012). The certificate for this film is a 12A which is the certificate I want to put on the trailer I will be making, the director of this film was called Scott Hicks.

Genre and audience
This film is a romance/drama genre as there is some heartbreak scenes but also scenes that are the complete opposite. This will attract a primary audience of ages 12-30 as this trailer has a very moving story behind it, it makes the audience feel emotionally connected to all of the characters as they all have very different storys but they all come together to make a romance. It will attract the kind of audience which are down to earth and can connect with these kind of storys as the main story line is 'Logan' being in the army and finding this picture which saved his life. The romance grows throughout the film as at first the girl is confused by this boy and why he wont leave her workplace, as she doesnt know he has a story behind this and as he trys to tell her the romance grows and grows until they start to look they they are becoming into a close couple and then the nasty dad of her child wrecks it and cause heartbreak shown through the scenes.

Narrative
There is again a paralell narrative in this trailer, there is two different storys shown throughout, the girls life and the boys life and there lives a similar in a way and he knows that he needs her but she discovers this near the end of the trailer rather than at the start like he does, there a moments in their life that they help each othewr without knowing it, like the girl saved the boys life just by him finding a picture, and then boy helps the girl through protecting her from the sons dad as he is shown to be not a very nice character, she doesnt know that she needs this much care that he is giving her but in the end they both benefit from this as they become happy together.

Representation
The boy at the beginning on the trailer is the one with all the feelings, as he works in the army you can tell he is troubled and is intouch with his emotions. When he finds this picture it brings him a spark and 'saves his life' so then he goes to find the girl who has saved him, this is not stereotypical as its usually the girl who the emoional one is, maybe this is reflected by the job he does.
The girl is the stubborn one in this trailer and she doesnt show any feelings at all at first which is very unlike the representaion of a girls feelings as they are always emotional and over think everything.
The boy is usually very laid back and doesnt really care about much whereas in this trailer 'Logan' is very determined as he is going on the lookout for this girl and doesnt give up until he gets what he wants, in this scenes the boy is chasing the girl and usually it is the other way round.
The dads son is a typical nasty piece of work, he is very aggressive and jealous of Logan as he is nopt used to his face and doesnt want him to be a part of his sons life or hers, this is stereotypical as his job is a police officer so you would expect him to be jealous and he is big built so this relates to his aggressive side.
