Research and planning: Magazine analysis 2

Again you can clearly tell that this is a magazine and not a poster by the features included which are a masthead, coverlines, sub heading, barcode, main image etc.

  • You can tell this is a fanstasy film by the first look at the magazine as straight away you noice the centred image of a male actor holding is hat and looking straight into the camera this is done through a medium shot. He is engaging you to read the magazine and shows that he has something to hide or something that he doesn't want you to know by the positioning of his arm on his head in leather gloves and a top hat which is not a typical outfit you would normally see which shows that the film is going to be fun.
  • The colour scheme of this magazine is very bright and creative as it is a fansty film so it compliments the genre, the main colours used in this magazine are red, green and white which is a lot to do with nature and when I think of a fantasy film I think of the outdoors so this magazine is very well thought out.
  • The masthead of the magazine stands out as it has been brought to the front of the magazine so the main image is placed behind this, this shows what the magazine is about and it clearly states that is it a 'film magazine' so this was they will be able to attract the right kind of audience for the film.

  • The target audience for this film is both males and females as there is a variety of colours so doesn't attract a cetrain kind of audience, I would say the age range for this magazine would be 16+
